Formerly the Bayberry Plaza (aka “Underground Mall"), the 3.65 acre site presents a great opportunity to create new housing in Orleans, MA. We seek approval for 42 rental apartments, all 1 and 2 bedrooms, and a repurposed mall structure into garage parking for the residents. The site is ideally located at the intersection of Rt 6 and Rt 6A near the Brewster town line in an area of commercial properties. Currently, most of the vacant parcel is covered by asphalt. We aim to reduce the pavement, utilize native plants to minimize lawn area, add solar arrays and construct energy efficient buildings. The top of the existing mall will remain a green roof and serve for recreation, events and perhaps an orchard.
